Quickstart

To follow along, you need a Radio Mast account and a radio stream that you want to monitor. Sign up, if you don't already have a Radio Mast account.

Monitor an Internet Radio Stream

  1. If this is the first time you're using Radio Mast, sign into your account.
  2. On the welcome screen, click "Add existing radio station".
  3. You'll be asked to enter your Stream URL. Your Stream URL is the link provided by your streaming radio host that your listeners connect to. It must be an Icecast2 or SHOUTcast stream. Paste your Stream URL in, and enter the name of your radio station.
  4. Radio Mast will detect some details about your stream, and automatically start monitoring it. If your Radio Mast plan includes silence detection, it will also be monitored for silence.
  5. To see more information about your stream and it's monitoring history, click "Streams" on the left, click your stream name, and then click the "Monitoring" tab.

Configure an Alert Policy

After adding a stream to your account, you will want to configure your Alert Policy so that Radio Mast knows when, and how often to contact you if there is a problem with your stream:

  1. Sign into your Radio Mast account, and click "Alerting" at the top of the page.
  2. A default Alert Policy has been automatically created for you. Click the name of the existing alert policy to customize it.
  3. When you are done making changes, click "Save Alert Policy".

For an explanation of alert policies and what each setting does, please see our documentation on Alerting.

Add another Alerting Contact

By default, email alerts will be sent to the email address that you signed up for Radio Mast with. Alert Policies can be configured to contact other email addresses instead of, or in addition to your default email address.

  1. Sign into your account, and click "Alerting" at the top of the page.
  2. Click "Add Contact".
  3. Enter the name and email address of the new contact whom you wish to alert when a problem is detected with your streams.
  4. Click "Save Contact". A verification email will be sent, and the recipient must click the link in the email in order to opt-in to Radio Mast notification emails.
  5. Click on an Alert Policy and check the new alerting contact, to add them as a contact on the policy. Click "Save Alert Policy" when you're finished.
